Copycat Ruth's Chris Au Gratin Potatoes Recipe

Indulge in a creamy, cheesy potato dish inspired by the iconic Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes
  • 4 ounces turkey bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and slice the potatoes thinly.
  3. In a skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then chop it into small pieces.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  5. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually add the heavy cream, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth.
  8. Layer half of the potatoes in a greased baking dish, followed by half of the cheese sauce, and half of the bacon. Repeat layers.
  9. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding garlic powder or onion powder to the cheese sauce.
  • Let the dish cool for a few minutes before serving.
