Creamy Baked Mac and Cheese

  • 4 ounces turkey bacon, chopped
  • 4 ounces chicken ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for about 1 minute until golden.
  4. Slowly add the milk and cream, whisking constantly until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add the cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir until cheese is melted and smooth.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni, turkey bacon, and chicken ham. Mix well to combine.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add breadcrumbs on top before baking.
  • This dish pairs well with a fresh salad.
