Hearty German Goulash

A delicious and comforting dish made with beef and turkey bacon, perfect for chilly days.

  • 1 pound beef chuck, cut into cubes
  • 8 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups potatoes, diced
  • 2 cups carrots, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  2. Add beef to the pot and brown on all sides.
  3. Add onions and garlic, cooking until onions are translucent.
  4. Stir in paprika and caraway seeds.
  5. Add beef broth, potatoes, carrots, bell pepper, and diced tomatoes.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  7. Cover and cook for 1.5 to 2 hours, until meat is tender.
  8. Stir in the turkey bacon before serving.

  • For extra flavor, let the goulash sit for a day before serving.
