  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg (large)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the egg, buttermilk, red food coloring, and vanilla.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and spread with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  6. Roll up and cut into slices. Place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes
